A consumer payments button becomes an enterprise growth platform.
PayPal had built a full-stack enterprise commerce platform through acquisitions of Venmo, Honey, Braintree, and Simility. The market still saw a payments button. In client work with PayPal, the engagement covered category repositioning, a multi-tier ABM campaign architecture spanning industry, persona, and one-to-one account levels, and a merchant enablement system for the Pay in 4 launch that translated a regulated fintech product into a scalable activation toolkit. The work shows how narrative foundation work can redefine what a product is in the market, not just how it is described. PayPal's 2025 launch of PayPal Open, positioning the company as a unified payments and growth platform for businesses, reflects a continuation of the same strategic direction. Results included 79% volume growth in the enterprise business, 61% growth in Q1, and PayPal grew or maintained wallet share with 90% of their top 55 merchants.
