Amply was competing in a crowded transactional email market where most providers looked identical on paper. The real opportunity was in a buyer segment most competitors ignored: compliance-driven enterprises where transactional email is not just infrastructure but a regulatory risk surface. A US-based compliance and security company with over $100M in revenue needed to replace their existing provider. Security gaps, delivery failures, and limited audit visibility were creating material business risk across mission-critical communications.

Gangbusters reframed Amply around the category these buyers actually care about: security-first email infrastructure built for regulated environments. The positioning moved away from deliverability metrics and toward the outcomes DevSecOps and security leadership needed to justify the decision internally. Control, audit readiness, and reliability under scrutiny. In that engagement, sharpening the category promise gave Amply a defensible position in a market where most competitors were racing to the bottom on price and features.
